Laura WordToTheWise wrote a article Interesting for explaining that a purchase on a merchant website does not automatically give the right to re-contact this new customer.
All e-commerce merchants will agree that’A customer is a primary target for email marketing.. And then, as he has already bought, he will automatically be interested in new offers. But be careful...
Perhaps this customer only wants to make a one-off purchase. Perhaps this purchase is a gift for someone else. In fact, it's possible they're not interested in what you're selling. Ask yourself then if they really want to maintain a marketing relationship with you, if they really want to hear from you again.
Some e-commerce retailers allow you to make a purchase by requesting very little personal information, but do not offer you the option to «opt in». Others request a lot of information and automatically consider you «opted in» (with no way to remain «opted out»).
E-retailers, making a purchase in no way constitutes permission.
E-commerce merchants, offer your buyer the option to «opt-in», but under no circumstances should you force them.
With a good campaign, one of your clients will surely return to buy again, but you risk losing more future buyers than you will convert.
